Ben Woodcock

Keeping with the theme of working with people called Ben I then moved on to help Ben Woodcock with some concept based around his story of a dog based character exploring an abandoned arctic research centre. Ben said that he wanted an empty shipping container which needed to look like it had had someone squatting in it taking refuge from the potential monster which was to be revealed later in the film. Hailing from Yarmouth I am no stranger to squatters and their hermit lifestyles and suggested having items such as empty tins strewn about alongside makeshift furniture such as oil cans. I then watched the classic film John Carpenter's The Thing, as I felt it's sense of style and isolation would be extremely useful as reference for a project of this nature and suggested having maps about the room with marking inked all over them. This was as a possible allusion to where the monster may have been and that whoever this unseen squatter was he may have been hunting it. To aid me in my design work I built a rough mockup of the building with basic lighting in maya and then hand drew these camera angles with added details.
